This week’s Races • Round 1 Warm up Scratch • Round 2 no race this week • Round 3 Wheel-Races (7 laps 1.75km) • Round 4 Madi-leads and Div 1 Madison • Round 5 Combines Explain these races Wheel-Race- - A Wheelrace is a handicap event open to a wide range of riders. The race distance is typically 1000-2000 metres. Riders start from a variety of positions around the track, with their handicap (or position) based on current grading and past performances. The top riders start from the 'scratch mark' - which is the absolute race distance - but they are sometimes over 200 metres behind the first riders who have that much less distance to travel. The scratch riders - normally top professionals - are the only competitors who have to cover the entire race distance. reference www.cyclingnews.com http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epn2EAFZCLY&feature=channel This week’s Wheel-races will be graded with a max of 20 riders per heat, so please listen in to how I split it up (should your division need to be split. Your handicap is posted below. Madilead- The pace in this race is set by a Madison team (see Madison). The bunch follows the Madison team for ??laps until, with 5 laps remaining the Madison leaders take off leaving the bunch to sought out the winner in scratch race style finish. The Idea of this race is to allow the lower grades to experience following a Madison change (which is a key skill in learning to ride a madison). The pace of this race can often change with the experienced leaders putting in a few hard attacks to stir up the bunch. Madison- A high speed, two person continuous race relay. Think of tag team wrestling meets track cycling - while one partner is racing the other is resting at the top of the track. This race is named after Madison Square Garden in New York where the event was first held. Two man teams contest the event, which is typically an endurance event. Only one rider from each team is allowed in the race at a given time, meaning that teams must take it in turn each lap (or more) to have a rider in the race. Changeovers are quite dangerous, but impressive to watch when done well - one rider circles around waiting for his teammate, who joins hands and imparts his momentum to the slower rider. At RAW Track we usually ride this on a scratch race format reference www.cyclingnews.com Don’t forget The 2013 Babici Madison series Check out current standings: http://www.rawtrack.com.au/index.php/topic,666.0.html Point Score info Last week’s top scorers • Div 1 Tirian McManus 20 points • Div 2 Gary Mandy 20 points • Div 3 Damian Brunt 18 points • Div 4 Nigel Apps 20 points • Div 5 Kirk Cleaven 18 points (http://www.rawtrack.com.au/TWE.jpg) series • Div 1 Gavin White 95 points • Div 2 Gary Mandy 89 points • Div 3 Eric MacDonald 95 points • Div 4 Nigel Apps 102 points • Div 5 Broughton Caley 88 points Teams/Clubs Challenge (http://sy13.conquercancer.org.au/images/content/pagebuilder/Hillbrick_BICYCLES.jpg) 1 Lidcombe 1939 2 Dulwich Hill 1936 3 Penrith 918 4 Illawarra 648 5 St George 571 6 Central Coast 561 7 Parramatta 474 8 Bicisport 466 9 Canberra 381 10 Randwick Botany 380 11 SUVelo 354 12 Hunter Districts 338 13 Southern Cross 333 14 Bankstown Sports 274 15 Peloton 272 16 Bathurst 249 17 Vikings 244 18 ATTA nsw 218 18 Sutherland 218 20 Macarthur 182 21 Manly 143 22 Northern Sydney 120 23 Sydney 119 24 Waratah Masters 111 25 Muswellbrook 108 26 WSMTB 105 27 Day 101 28 Southern Highlands 81 29 CA 79 30 Goulburn 75 31 ? 60 31 Harlequin 60 33 Racing Kangaroos 42 34 Marconi 33 35 Eastern Suburbs 32 36 ANU Cycling 31 37 ADCC 30 37 Rockhampton 30 39 All other clubs A message from LACC to DHBC Each week The Big friendly Vegan has been posting a cheeky gif on the DHBC forum (http://i.imgur.com/ak8hvff.gif) Top two clubs at a glance 1. 7 Laps • Each division will have their own separate wheel-race. • If a division exceeds 20 riders it shall be split into two heats. I will endeavour to split the field in an even spread to avoid clumps of riders (please pay attention to announcements on the night re; splits) • Please organise a handler and also be prepared to be one for a different division. • Should it be required the below handicaps may be changed by an official on the line in an attempt to spread the riders out for a start. • Riders who have not ridden RAW are eligible to ride wheel-Race and will be handicapped by me on the line. • Riders who require to go up or down a grade will have their handicap adjusted accordingly Div 1 riders Nick Yallouris 0 Tirian McManus 0 Jack Edwards ** 10 Ben Harvey 20 Gavin White 30 Joshua Cornish 35 Timothy McMillan 40 Ben Young 45 Travis Smedley 50 Jack Schwarze** 55 Scott Mills ** 60 Matt Beazley 65 Jay Dutton 65 Zac Dellar 70 Scott Suine 70 Ethan Doughty 70 Bradley Heap ** 75 Chris Hageman 80 Edward Hoffman 90 Bill Bolton 90 Ian Gardiner 100 Alex Chubb 110 Rick McArdle 125 David Browne ** 130 Jake Waller 135 Div 2 Riders Michael Scott -5 Devon Middleditch 0 Procter Morris 0 Alan Townsend 5 Miles Watson 5 Elliot Stacey** 10 Matt Glanville 10 Gary Mandy 20 Nick Edwards 20 Henry Mander 25 Rob Hacker ** 30 Daniel Van der laan 35 Geoff Baxter** 40 Jack Morgan 45 Damon Marshall 45 Rowan Drumond 50 Ben Elliot 50 Alex Yallouris 50 Brad Boyd 50 Darryl Thorncraft 55 David Willmott 60 Andrew McLean 65 Tom Bolton 70 Nathan Garard 80 Will Clarke 90 Jake Grierson 95 Peter Carscadden 100 James Fowler 105 Michael Buckingham 110 Andrew Homann 115 Tim Llewellyn 120 Tony Unicomb 130 Shaun Falzarano 145 Div 3 riders Eric MacDonald -5 Rhys Edwards -5 Damon Brunt 0 Oscar Hounn 0 Lucas Pittaway 0 Sean Brunt 5 Lachlan Haughey 5 Aaron Wiseman 10 Charles Hofman 15 Harry Papadimitriou 20 Kurt Allen 25 Ian Docherty 30 Terance Hutton 30 Kev Babakian ** 35 William Anderson 40 Ivan Colig 40 Christian Lees 45 Ben Fox 50 Brian Rawlinson 55 Lizanne Wilmot 60 Paul Murray 60 Julian Yuen 65 Julian Wills 65 James Thornton 65 Justin Buckland ** 65 Courtney McGowan 70 Michael Stokes 70 Cathrine Culvenor 75 Stelio Pappas ** 80 Alan Bransdon 85 Richard Measures 90 Will Kaless 95 Michael Clement 95 Mick Marshall 95 Steven nemeth 100 Charles Dallymple-Hay 110 Pete Murray ** 115 Neil Land 125 Jim Veal 130 Darren Kelly 135 Simon Llewellyn 140 Stuart Hughes 145 Tony Burke 145 Jess Marshall 150 Div 4 riders Nigel Apps** -5 Geoff Wilson -5 Russell Menzies 0 Daniel Campbell Williams 0 Lara Batkin 0 James Orton 5 Francis Apikotoa 5 Phillip Dobe ** 10 Aubry Hill 10 Kane Schenscher 10 Steffi Taylor 15 Nick Bowd 15 Chris Harris 15 Shariff Shockair 20 Scott Spackman 25 Simon Ginns 25 Nick Duggan 30 Brad Mills 35 Mark Fakhouri 35 David Cooper 35 Jason Head 45 Imogen Hines 45 Ben Boyd 45 Adam Johnson 50 Mitch Richard 55 Peter Rox ** 60 Chloe Heffernan 65 Patrick Carey 65 Renee Covington 70 Alex Lord 75 Mark Bezzina 80 Jason Ingram 85 Anthony New 85 Collin Lemoto 90 Sascha Lotz 90 Cameron Todd 95 Mark Yewdall 95 Michal Burda 100 Glenn Asquith 100 Brianna Hunt 100 Darren Clarke 110 Holly Heffernan 110 Gerard Rieter 115 Deanna Bax 115 Alex Cameron 115 Richard Davies 115 Drew Johnston 120 Kieran Scott 120 Ella Falzarano 120 David Greenwood 125 Gina Ricardo 130 Zac Hulm 135 Tyler Buckley 140 Cathrine Hooton 145 David Halfpenny** 150 Melanie Reiter 155 Logan Olive 160 Eleri Morgan -Thomas 160 Div 5 riders Ben Larsen -10 Brent Gapes -5 Ben Hill -5 Broughton Caley ** 0 Ian Bullimore 0 Allan Haddad 0 Thomas Cornish 0 Nick Hardcastle 10 Ricklee Lee 10 Oliver Stacey 15 Kirk Cleaven 20 Paul Whitfield 25 Zanzi Hocknell 30 Russel Garstang 30 Troy Martin 30 John Crnogorac 35 Stephen Cuff 35 John Trovas 35 Thomas Murray 40 Mitch Richard 40 Samuel Haynes 45 Ben Lehner 50 Brian Young 55 Pat Rooke 60 Sina Wildraut 70 Jo Skinner 75 Brett Scuse 75 Richard Rattray** 80 Chris Hedley 80 Ken Schack-Evans 85 Callum Goldsmith 85 Ben Cooper 85 Ruby Reidy-Miller 90 Craig Hobart 90 Taku Rogers 90 Paul Armishaw 90 Milly Phillips 95 Steve Morris 95 Ally Roche 95 John Caley 100 Andrew Belford 105 David Monro 110 Geoff Mallinson 115 Francis Teow** 120 Colin Williamson 125 Tanner Convington Gorst 130 Alison Wallace 135 Maddeleine van Ewyke 140 Greg Vanderdonk 145 Sarah Harvey 150 Claudia Jackson 155 Kristy Peltitt 160 Jessica Field 165 Lisa Ginns 165 Col Cheers 165 Marian Renshaw 165 Syan Garstang 180 Peter Buckingham 190 |
