Hot: Tirian or Josh….. it will come down to the final race of the season! Not: Brad Heap … has done enough for third Not only is the battle for the series win going to be intriguing. But the battle for 4th to 6th is on fire. Robby Cater has a buffer on Scott Mills and Alex Chubs who are locked on the same points. Top 5 contenders Joshua Cornish 197 Tirian McManus 195 Bradley Heap 162 Robert Cater 147 Scott Mills 140 Alex Chubb 140 Div 2: Who will Win? Hot: Gary Mandy … can not be beaten! Not: Ben Lehner … has lost his chance of 4th place but will get 5th Geoff Baxter v’s Nosh Mistry for 2nd place. Geoff has shown greater form over the last few weeks. Let’s race this one out. Top 5 contenders Gary Mandy 222 Geoff Baxter 201 Nosh Mistry 199 Brendan Barrett 188 Ben Lehner 171 Div 3: Who will win Hot: Lizanne Willmot …. Should wrap it up. Not: Troy Fisher ……. Will be absent this week and may slip to 3rd Broughton has a good chance of moving intro second Noel has a shot as well. Whilst O’brien will be trying to make up for last week’s error. Speaking of Shane, there is a ridiculously serious fight for the final 5th position. 3 Riders are locked on the same points going into the final round Top 5 contenders Lizanne Wilmot 183 Troy Fisher 183 Broughton Caley 172 Noel Gorrell 161 Shane O'Brien 159 Bradley Peyser 159 Steffi Taylor 159 Nigel Apps 153 Div 4: Who will win Hot: Ian Grant ….too good for Div 4 Not: Brad Mills has slipped from third. 1 point seperates John, Charles and Brad. This week’s Races • Round 1 warm up Scratch • Round 2 no race (save time) • Round 3 Kierin (including Kierin Kup Final) • Round 4 Point a Lap • Round 5 Handicap Combines + Hillbrick Club Challenge Italian Pursuit • Round 6 Race video replays, Pizza and Beer at the Kiosk + Presentation and Music Video In Most divisions (exc Div1) the top 6 or 7 will face off in the Kierin. The top 7 heat will be the last heat of each division. Explain these races Kierin- The keirin is a motorpaced event that is very popular in Japan where it originated. In that country, huge amounts of money are bet on races and professional keirin riders command impressive salaries. It is similar to the match sprint, but features 6-8 riders on the track. A derny motorbike paces the riders from 25 km/h up to 45 km/h for the first few laps. During this time, riders jostle each other for the best position and this is often the roughest part of the event. With two and a half laps to go, the derny bike pulls off and the sprint is on. Team tactics are important here, as the leadout is often quite long. If one team can get two of their riders in the final, then they are at a distinct advantage. reference www.cyclingnews.com http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CxkGOgoAOM&feature=channel Point'a'Lap- The race is run similar to a point score-however each lap is a sprint for first place only and worth one point. The overall winner is the rider with the most points. In most grades riders will have 5 laps of non-point scoring followed by 10 laps of point'a'lap . Point Score info Last week’s top scorers • Div 1 Jackson Law 30 points • Div 2 Geoff Baxter + Garry Mandy 26 points • Div 3 Stephen Cuff 30 points • Div 4 Ian Grant 30 points • Div 5 Georgia Quick 30 points (http://www.rawtrack.com.au/TWE.jpg) series • Div 1 Josh Cornish 197 points • Div 2 Gary Mandy 222 points • Div 3 Lizanne Wilmot + Troy Fisher 183 points • Div 4 Ian Grant 209 points • Div 5 Maximillian Santos 177 points Teams/Clubs Challenge (http://sy13.conquercancer.org.au/images/content/pagebuilder/Hillbrick_BICYCLES.jpg) 1 Dulwich Hill 3770 2 Lidcombe 2625 3 St George 1460 4 Illawarra 1457 5 Hunter Districts 950 6 Parramatta 930 7 Bicisport 904 8 SUVelo 872 9 Northern Sydney 773 10 Penrith 773 11 Southern Cross 740 12 Central Coast 709 13 Randwick Botany 606 14 Canberra 471 15 Australian DF 453 16 Sutherland 438 17 Waratah Masters 356 18 Bankstown 346 19 Day 321 20 ANU 281 21 Vikings 250 22 Manly 234 23 Goulburn 219 24 Southern Highlands 208 25 Peloton Sports 205 26 Muswellbrook 183 27 Tamworth 168 28 Kooragang 164 29 Marconi 146 30 Harlequin 87 31 Eastern Suburbs 73 32 Bathurst 61 33 Nowra Velo 52 34 FCC 42 35 BMX Aus. 40 36 Armidale 35 37 Hobart Wheelers 33 38 Coffs Harbour 32 39 Manning Valley 32 40 Uni QLD 32 41 Scotland 31 42 South Australia 31 43 All other Clubs 0 BFV's very special message to DHBC With the upcoming ride off for the club championships, the truth can finally be revealed about your club.
