Week 12 Bring it!

This week’s Races
• Round 1 warm up Scratch
• Round 2 no race
Round 3 Handicaps (6-8 riders 2 laps, Start top and bottom)
• Round 4 Div 5 Scratch Div 4 – 2 Madi-lead Div 1 Madison

• Round 5 Combines + CNSW Time Blaster 8:37 for $400

Explain these races
Handicaps – These will be run in heats of approximately 6-8 riders over two laps (500m) I will determine your starting position upon entry to the track. Four riders will start off the top fence and four will start off the bottom fence about 20m behind. Whistle start.

NB: Top 6 of each division on the TWE points series will start in a final heat of the grade together. All will start at the top of the track. One (1) rider will start on the 0m mark the rest will line up behind the pursuiters line.  Top 6 riders will draw for position.

 False start punishment.
•   Official notes minor false start = relegation of 1 position
•   Official notes significant false start = relegation to last of the group (may differ to Last)
•   Official notes major false start = relegation to last.

Madi-Lead The pace in this race is set by a Madison team (see Madison). The bunch follows the Madison team for ??laps until, with 5 laps remaining the Madison leaders take off leaving the bunch to sought out the winner in scratch race style finish. The Idea of this race is to allow the lower grades to experience following a Madison change (which is a key skill in learning to ride a madison). The pace of this race can often change with the experienced leaders putting in a few hard attacks to stir up the bunch.

Madison- A high speed, two person continuous race relay. Think of tag team wrestling meets track cycling - while one partner is racing the other is resting at the top of the track. This race is named after Madison Square Garden in New York where the event was first held. Two man teams contest the event, which is typically an endurance event. Only one rider from each team is allowed in the race at a given time, meaning that teams must take it in turn each lap (or more) to have a rider in the race. Changeovers are quite dangerous, but impressive to watch when done well - one rider circles around waiting for his teammate, who joins hands and imparts his momentum to the slower rider. At RAW Track we usually ride this on a scratch race format reference www.cyclingnews.com

A message from LACC to DHBC
Each week The Big friendly Vegan has been posting a cheeky gif on the DHBC forum

The Time blaster this week
•   With Jack Edwards, Tirian McManus, Ben Harvey and several other hitters expected this week, I was going to say that the massive Cash prize of $400 would surely go off this week.
•   However just got a message from Tirian stating he is out due to injury
•   After the last time blaster attempt in week 10 when a div 1 lacking fire-power went within 4 seconds of cracking the win. (Mostly due to Ben Harvey)
•   I still believe this weeks’ time blaster will go off.
•   Not to be missed!

Who is hot and who is not (for TWE Point Series)

For week 12

    V's

Div 1:
Hot: Ben Harvey
Not: Gavin White .. old man back issues

What a difference a week makes! Gavin White was out due to a shaggers back injury. This allowed Ben Harvey to rape and pillage all the points. He has now taken the lead for the first time in the series. Ben is now the favourite to win the 2013 season, but a series battle will rage dependant on Gav’s back.
Minor places: All in the top 7 will have a shot at the top 5. A question mark exists on the newly promoted Daniel Van der Laan who has been riding gallantly in div 1 and scoring points. However, I feel that points in the final three weeks will be difficult for the LACC rider.

Top 5 contenders
Ben Harvey   169
Gavin White    155
Bradley Heap **   146
Daniel Van der laan    140
Scott Mills **   135
Jack Schwarze**   134
Joshua Cornish    133

Div 2:
Hot: Geoff Baxter
Not: Eric McDonald:… has lost a significant chunk, in fact all of his lead over the last two weeks

We have a battle royal a brewing in Div 2! Gary Mandy appears to be the strongest and tactically superior in the division. However an error last week forced a relegation which has cost him dearly. The two leaders are now tied for the win and I for one am not will to place a wager either way at this stage.  Bring it boyz, Bring it!

Top 5 contenders
Eric MacDonald   158
Geoff Baxter**    158
Gary Mandy   146
Elliot Stacey**   142
Procter Morris    140
Rowan Drumond   140

Div 3:
Hot: Sean Brunt
Not: Lizanne Willmot … Just putting it out there. I like to live dangerously ?
Newly crowned 2013 Fat-man has showed his pure speed in dominating the sprint events, he has also shown his determination to try and pick up points in the endurance events. Having said this he did lose a bit of his lead last week. The father and Son team “Brunt Buddies” have been seriously rattling the division leader.

Top 5 contenders
Kurt Allen    157
Sean Brunt    154
James Orton    149
Lizanne Wilmot    143
Damon Brunt    143

Div 4:
Hot: Phillip Dobe
Not: Nigel Apps: .. Not really
Nigel has been the dominant character of the division for the whole series. In his shadow has been the consistently long way out attacking style of Phil Dobe. Somehow over the last couple of weeks Phil has come out of the shadow’s and is now within 6 points of the lead. Surprise, surprise this isn’t over.

Top 5 contenders
Nigel Apps**   175
Phillip Dobe **   169
Steffi Taylor    147
Nick Hardcastle   142
Samuel Haynes    137

Div 5

Hot: Broughton Caley : too hot to handle
Fight on for second.
Top 5 contenders

Broughton Caley **   178
Ben Hill    150
Ian Bullimore   147
Thomas Murray    143
John Crnogorac   138
