Well, almost all. Im sure young Timothy McMillan wont rate it as the best night hes had after an enormour SOLO crash that will probaly make George Lowe think his bike handling skills arent too bad. ;D Hope you heal quickly Timothy.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJNqMrLhB88 (inserted by Artson) Got in early and did my usual 20 min chat for warmup, than decided to head out on the track to turn the legs over. They felt very ordinary. I SMS's the wife who was going to be watching on line and tolde her to look for me mid pack somewhere. Warm up scratch the legs actually felt OK, and ened up with 2nd. As I crossed the line I let out loud "Oh no!" as I realised this had qualified me for the wheelrace, and last time I did that it ruined the rest of the evening for me. Anyway as the "bunnies" in the wheelrace our work iwas always going to be cut out for us. We two leaders in out foursome took off quickly and it took me almost a lap to get on and comportable (I really gotta work on my starts). From there we seemed to be gong quite well and holding the others off. With about three laps to go we seemed to slow a bit and even though we accelerated again the damage was done. The div1's caught us and flew by. Ian from div 4 hung on for fourth, nice effort, and I managed to finish in 6th. Pretty happy considering. The half field sprints were never going to be fun and after the wheelrace I was just making up numbers. The madi lead was a solid effort with the paceline holding strongtill the last change. I found myself into the wind with 4 laps to go and stupidly decided to stay there and see how long I could hold on. I made it till half lap to go and olny succeded in providing a Renshaw like leadout for big Andrew Brookfield who happily took full advantage and finished strongly, and I pluged to last in a drop only replicated by NSW Labors approval ratings. (wifes SMS "Blew Up?") I raced the Div 5/4 Combines to try and salvage something from the evening and again in a moment of recklessness found myself on he front a bit too far out from home, but the speed was hig enough this time for me to keep the legs ticking over and manage to stay away and win something for the evening. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbmEO4Ni_Sc (inserted by Artson) A great night was capped off by the boys riding almost effortlessy to smash the time blaster and lower the bar yet again. Great night, great fun thanks again Crafty and crew, commisaires and Alex from Verofit. I should also thank the suppliers of prizes, but the closest I get is seeing them on the sign in table. Not bike handling related - Tim managed to reef the left pedal out of the crankarm at the start of his sprint :o. No broken bones apparently. Not bike handling related - Tim managed to reef the left pedal out of the crankarm at the start of his sprint :o. No broken bones apparently. I had one at Tempe in a sprint once, did the complete A over T and the bike ripping itself from my strapped in foot broke the cuboid bone in my foot. Just as well I traded that foot in later on for a carbon/Ti model :D Title: Re: Week 11 (August 28) Post by: Artson on August 30, 2009, 09:18:15 AM Have received a query on the result of div 2 Madi-Lead
Checked video and discovered original results (Alex Ramsey 3rd, Nosh Mystery 4th) to be incorrect Have corrected results above to reflect image below also adjusted master points sheet [attachment deleted by admin] Title: Re: Week 11 (August 28) Post by: Simon on August 31, 2009, 01:24:55 AM The madi lead was a solid effort with the paceline holding strongtill the last change. I made it till half lap to go and olny succeded in providing a Renshaw like leadout for big Andrew Brookfield who happily took full advantage and finished strongly, I also benefitted from this great lead out as I stuck tight on Andrews wheel as he closed every gap and then chased down Roxii's attack- But the big man was too strong and I had nothing left to get around him... have to try again next week ;) I think the best part of RAW is that after the race the three of us had a good laugh about how it all unfolded. A good night of hard fun racing is what we're used to from Crafty, bring on week 12! Title: Re: Week 11 (August 28) Post by: Fats on August 31, 2009, 03:51:35 AM Well it is a loooong way around! :D :D :D And great work to Matt Hynes for doing a tops job behind the Madi-leadout. He was smokin!
