Each rider will be allocated a ranking. The rider ranking number will added to their madison partners number, e.g. Rider 'A' (2 points) pairs up with Rider 'B' (3 points). Team total equals 5 points. Points will be allocated to first (5 points), second (3 points), third (2 points) and fourth (1 point) for each madison run during the Christmas Carnival series. Teams that loose a lap to the 'field' during each madison will loose 5 points. It will be the commisaires decision to remove teams from the race if more than one lap down for safety reasons. The overall winner(s) of the madison series will be the highest points score holder(s). Riders will be allowed to change teams if so desired but must advise David Browne (Brownie) prior to the commencement of each madison event.
The madison series is aimed to encourage as many riders to ride the madison. The rider ranking system is based on madison experience, strength (sprint), endurance and race gradings for the Christmas Carnival series. All riders are welcome to participate in the madison events. If you have any questions please either speak to Paul Craft or David Browne ('Browney') Title: Re: Day 1 - Thurs 27th 2012 @ DGV by BSCC Post by: Artson on December 27, 2012, 01:09:24 PM Spot an error email pcraft@vtown.com.au

I guess the most impressive group of riders in the series have been the U17 crew who are dispersed throughout the grades from the Women to B Grade and below. Some seriously fast spinning legs were spotted going off the front of all grades at all stages of the races in the manner in which only U17’s could think “what a great time to go!” The Women’s racing, as predicted, has been dominated by Rebecca Wiasak, however U17 riders Kiarra Dundas and Taylor Hunt have both learnt quickly to be on the wheel of Rebecca when she goes. Taylor seemed to improve in confidence as the night progressed. (http://img607.imageshack.us/img607/9669/xmasvelo1.jpg) Rebecca high on the track The men’s A Grade was hard to pick a standout. Travis Smedley U19 showed blister speed to lead the points tally whilst Nick Yallouris found himself out of place a few times. Tirian McManus used the night in preparation for the upcoming UCI world Cup and struggled with some of the top end speed stuff. Matt Dodds from New Zealand was surprised at the intensity of the racing but certainly showed good speed. (http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/8882/xmasvelo2.jpg) Ben Young warming up The Feature Race was the Bankstown Sports Club 1.5km Wheel-race which carried an individual purse of $750 cash. The Scratchies were hindered after the withdrawal of Ben Young who was unable to start after a fall in the Kierin. Tiran, Hardarker and Smedley all tried their best but were unable to join the main field. The B Grade riders also struggled to make contact with the lead group of Women, D Grade and C Grade riders. By the time B grade made it to the group it was too late as Rebecca Wiasak had made her move with young Nick Whymark in tow. A late sprint by Rhee Rosslind denied Wiasak the win. It was a popular victory as Rhee had brought a substantial group of friends and family to witness his dominating win. (http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/6567/xmasvelo7.jpg) The scratchies ready to go! The X-mas Carnivals are also famous for their madisons. This year with the added feature of a handicap system has included a typical RAW Track twist. Despite Yallouris and Dutton easily dominating the race on the handicap system they are ranked a lowly 6th and 7th overall. To win this overall challenge riders are going to have to employ some clever tactics along with a little bit of arithmetic.
