This week’s Races
•   Round 1   warm up Scratch
•   Round 2  The Kirrawee Cycles 1.5km Wheel-Race
•   Round 3  ½ field sprints
•   Round 4  Point’a’Lap

•   Round 5  Round 5  Combines

Explain these races
Point'a'Lap- The race is run similar to a point score-however each lap is a sprint for first place only and worth one point. The overall winner is the rider with the most points.

Half Field 4 lap scratch/sprint.  Your Division will be split into two heats. So if there are 18 riders in div 2 there will be two heats each containing 9 riders. However the maximum in a field is 10 riders, so if we have more than 20 sign on in any division we will actually have 3 heats.  The race is run under standard scratch race rules. At only 1km in length this race is considered more like a sprint than a scratch race.  Here is a video, but please do not emulate http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GaW_2E_bPU0

Who do I think should go up a grade?

•   At RAW you will be never be told what grade you have to ride.
•   However your peers may politely suggest you change grades.
•   Added to this, I may offer some advice, in an attempt to pre-empt your peers.
•   This week I will add my opinion to the sign on Sheet.
•   If you see, next to your name “?” it is my belief that you should ride a higher grade.
•   If you see, next to your name “??”it is my belief that you are sandbagging and you are more than capable of riding a higher grade.
•   In the history of RAW, the choose your own grade policy has only been seriously rorted on three occasions, are you interested in being the fourth?

This is the last week to make the TWE wheel-race

• The famous TWE mid-season Wheel-Race will be held week 6 (July 30 2010).
The wheel-race rewards those who start the season strongly.
•   The top 4 of each grade (div4-div1) at the completion of week 5 will qualify for the wheel-race
•   each rider will be individually handicapped; any rider who I perceive to be sandbagging will be severely disadvantaged.
•   First prize is a set of custom built TWE wheels.
These wheels will be professionally built by Greg Ryan to meet your specific requirements

Canteen trial this week
•   Our good friends from Bankstown Sports Gymnastic club will be running a canteen this Friday
•   This is a trial to see if it is viable.
•   Chances are that food will run out early
