Bring it!

RAW TRACK Newsletter 2009 sponsored by:

This week’s Races
•   Round 1   Warm up Scratch
•   Round 2   “No – Race this week”
•   Round 3  Graded Sprints  (4-6 riders per heat) ….(Hillbrick Series)
•   Round 4  Winners Race , Div 1= Madison
•   Round 5  combines
•   Round 6  Race video replays, Cyclists pasta and Beer in the HBT.

Explain these races
Sprint- RAW Track sprints are usually run as 4-6 ups over 3 laps the first few laps are usually spent sizing your opponents up and positioning yourself for the optimum explosion to the finish. It is not uncommon for a sneaky rider to attack early in the hope of holding a lead to the finish. The sprint is a test of power, speed and above all, tactics.
Winners Race- The race is over 16 laps. There is a sprint with 12laps to-go, the winner of this sprint qualifies for the final sprint, however he/she must continue to race, keeping a close eye on the winners of the sprints with 9, 6 and 3 Laps to go. Each of these riders also qualifies for the final sprint. With 4 laps to go all non-qualifying riders must withdraw from the race. Leaving a 4 up sprint to decide the final placing.  You can work out all the tactics on this one.

Due to time restraints Wheel-races will be every second week in 09
•   Round 2’s Wheel-Race will run every second week mostly offset Jnr Development
•   This is to ensure that we finish on time
•   In addition to the significant Prize Pool offered by the sponsor, I will also contribute some extra cash to ensure the wheel-races are more than worthwhile.

Corrections
None this week

Handle Bar Tavern
•   Don’t forget that again this year the HBT is supporting RAW Track by providing a special Cyclist Pasta at a special price
•   Last week we had the video replay on the big screen with plenty of ooohs and ahhh’s
•   When you arrive at the HBT we will have Jugs of drink on the reserved tables.

•   Greg, master wheel-builder from Twe wheels has informed me that all RAW Track Twe Wheel-sets prizes will be specifically built to the requirements of the winners.
•   Twe wheels are built to the rider’s needs and requirements; ask yourself this, “who built the wheels you are racing on now?”
•   If you can’t answer this simple question you may not be getting the best out your equipment.
