My odds
No club has ever won the series two years in a row

•   5:3  Dulwich Hill ... (Winners 2009) Much like Swine Flu, DHBC invaded RAW in 2009 with more red than the communist party. Can they do it again? They have solid growth in all areas especially women and finally have more than Simon in Div1

•   2:1 Illawarra: (Winners 2008) They have been easily the best performed club on the track over the last 5 years.

•   3:1 Sutherland; may have lacked big numbers in the past but have some serious fire power. With their riders performing so well it is inevitable that the growth will happen.

•   3:1 Randwick Botany: One of the largest clubs in NSW has often lacked kick arse track riders however, at the beginning of this year they corrected the problem by luring a number of big boys to their club.

•   4:1  Bankstown Sports: Over the last few years BSCC have increased their Junior Development program and allot of their youngsters have come of age. Plus they have an added advantage of not having sit in Friday afternoon traffic jams.

•   5:1 Bicisport: (winners 2003 and 2006) The days of the Bicisport train dominating Div 1 have long gone however they still remain one of the strongest track clubs in NSW especially within the master ranks.

•   5:1 Lidcombe: (Winners 2007) Former winner of the series LACC have always been strong in all disciplines of NSW cycling, possibly spreading their resources too thin to win the RAW championship again

•   6:1 Waratah Masters: (Winners 2004) another former series winner, certainly have the numbers. In fact you have to 35+ just to join.

•   20:1 Central Coast: (Winners 2005)  Kariong Hill.....F3.........Pennant Hills Road........Silverwater Rd ....... Hume Hwy .........Not a chance.

Paul

Even though you want to reward clubs that support Friday nights it would be interesting to see which club, excluding the attendance points is the strongest. Just a thought.

You are correct in that the Club challenge is about participation.

But if I work out the average score of the individual rider of any club in 2009 season, it should eliminate those clubs with large numbers and show a reflection of the strongest riders for the season.

Average points per club rider;

Dulwich Hill   123.4
MTBA   112
Randwick Botany   99.9
Waratah Vets   99.9
Sutherland   98.4
Bankstown Sports    91.6
St George    88.3
Illawarra   86.3
Manly    86.3
Southern cross    85.3
Sydney   84.6
Bicisport    84.4
Kooragang    81.8
Lidcombe   80.1
Goulburn   72.6
Southern Highlands   71.9
Penrith   68.8
Canberra   66.1
Bathurst    63.3
Central Coast   62.8
Northern Sydney    58.9
Parramatta   58.8
Eastern Suburbs    57.7
Aust/Defence   51.7
Musselbrook CC    51
Harlequin    48
Taiwan    45.5
Wagga Wagga    44.7
Tuggeranong   44.1
Hunter Districts    43.8
Port Macquarie    40
Armidale    38
Marconi   30
Northern Rivers    30
Peloton Sports   30

I too used to think along the lines of "they'll win cause they've more numbers"...Though with time to think,,,[Especially the last couple of months] they probably will.... Cause aquiring the trophy not only reflects on the individual piont riders or the newbies that turn up in support, but the club as a whole.... because the club that has a large number of riders is probably going to have a fair percentage of riders that'll turn up. and for a club to have a large membership can only mean that, from riders to officials to the volenteers,,,,the club as a whole has to be doing good >hence the Club challenge.

Ps.
With my experience over the past years I would like to see Marconi CC win, but my Monies is on LACC [ a well oiled machine].
